About
Jesse Woolridge works as an applications engineer for an electronics manufacturer, translating customer needs into viable designs — work that demands the same careful reading of complex systems he brings to the biblical text. He holds a B.S. in Music Education from Messiah University and spent five years as a church youth director.
This book is the fruit of a decade of independent study. Working directly from the Hebrew terms and their contexts as they appear throughout Scripture — and granting no authority to any interpretive tradition — Woolridge reconstructs what Genesis 1–9 describes and tests it against cosmology, geology, paleontology, archaeology, and philosophy. The project began with an earlier Genesis analysis, of which this book is the vastly expanded definitive edition.
His motivation is a conflict he carried for years. The Bible, he argues, is full of empirically valid philosophical and sociological premises — and every society in history that has replicated those philosophies, even organically or unintentionally, has realized benefits proportional to the degree of adoption. But the opening chapters of Genesis seemed too fantastic to be real, in contrast with the otherwise objectively valid Scriptures. This analysis resolved the conflict: read in the Hebrew and tested against modern scientific knowledge, those first chapters proved so plausible as to be compelling — accurate information recorded millennia before it could have been observed or even comprehended.
Through his WhetScience project (whetscience.com), Jesse publishes essays on the intersection of physical laws, ancient texts, and big ideas via Substack and Medium, produces video essays on the book’s topics, maintains a presence across eight social platforms under a single brand, and has appeared as a guest on podcasts covering science, politics, and entertainment.
He lives in Santa Clarita, California, where he is raising four children.
